On May 25, 2020 George Floyd was murdered in cold blood in by a Minneapolis Police Officer. A day later civil unrest began to happen in both twin cities., a number of community leaders, church members met to address issues relative to the civil unrest. During this meeting our President and CEO, decided to go back to the Asst. Pastor’s and Deacons of Transformation to talk about what it is we could do to be a beacon of light in our community, and at the same time contribute to revitalizing the community.

In July, 2022 New Life Community Development Corporation (NLCDC) was established. The NLCDC’s will focus on addressing the need for affordable housing, Serving the Elders of our community, Youth mentoring, and community watch..

The core programs provided NLCDC are key components to NLCDC’s holistic approach. NLCDC will focus on improving the quality of life for North and South Minneapolis residents. The organization will accomplish this by effectively acquiring, renovating, and/or building new affordable housing, providing a variety of social services to assist low-income and ex-offenders, veterans, elderly and disabled individuals to economically sustain themselves and create employment opportunities through its social initiatives.

As a startup Community Development Corporation, NLCDC will seek local, federal and state grants donations, and funds raised from sponsored events to enable the Corporation to provide direct benefits to residents. NLCDC will promote economic growth through homeownership opportunities.

NLCDC recognize the importance of working in partnership will local, state, federal, and other community organizations to achieve desired results. Efforts will be made to develop partnership agreements with the Camden Planning Council, local Community Action program, faith based organizations, Department of Social Services, the Housing Authority, etc.
